The Ickesburg Church of God has been a part of the Ickesburg community and Perry County since 1942. We are affiliated with the Church of God, with headquarters at Cleveland, Tennessee.
While pastoring the Cross Keys Church of God, in East Waterford, PA, Pastor Sarah (Varner) Clayton felt compelled by the Holy Spirit to come to Perry County and open a church. She discussed her burden with Sister Clouser, a member of the Cross Keys church. Sister Clouser said that her father and stepmother lived in Ickesburg. They located an old, unused Methodist Church building to use in their pioneering effort.
In September 2009, the church relocated to its present location at 85 Tuscarora Path in Ickesburg.
For several years we have brought Christmas cheer to the residents of The Manor at Perry Village by singing Christmas carols in the hallways during the month of December. In the same spirit of love, we carol up and down the streets of Ickesburg.
We also participate in the Annual Fireman's Carnival and periodically host the annual Community Church Service that precedes the opening of the Carnival. This last year we gave away animal balloons to the children and some of teens did face painting.
